Welcome to the October edition of our newsletter, where we embrace the vibrant tapestry of autumn’s arrival, acknowledging Breast Cancer Awareness Month, reveling in the spirit of Halloween, and nurturing our emotional well-being during National Emotional Wellness Month. As the leaves change colors and the air grows crisper, this month invites us to reflect on the importance of resilience, self-care, and community support. Join us as we explore these themes, share insightful information, and celebrate the opportunities this October has to offer.

We’re thrilled to provide you with an exciting update on the recent conference. It was a resounding success with 213 registrants which created a vibrant atmosphere for networking and knowledge-sharing.

Among our attendees, we were proud to welcome representatives from 17 different organizations, including students, professors, and healthcare providers. This diverse mix of participants enriched the conference discussions and collaborations. Moreover, we are grateful for the generous support of our 24 sponsors who played a pivotal role in making this event possible.

A highlight of the conference was undoubtedly the insightful keynote presentations. We were honored to have Hal Wolf, president & CEO of HIMSS, and David Michael, medical director of ECU Health Lifestyle Medicine Clinic, as our keynote speakers. Our Oktoberfest-themed reception provided a fun and relaxed atmosphere for everyone to unwind and network. Thank you to all our participants, sponsors, and speakers for making this conference a memorable and enriching experience!

Special Message from our NC HIMSS President

As a chapter, a primary focus has been on continuous self-improvement. Part of this ongoing effort has involved a thorough review and update of our existing governance. The Board of Directors, with guidance from the HIMSS organization, has reviewed and revised the chapter bylaws. In the near future, you will receive an important email containing a copy of the revised bylaws, marked with changes for your review. It’s important to emphasize that these documents will serve as the governing framework for our chapter in the years ahead. An integral part of the process is a full membership vote. We need your input!

Be on the lookout for that very special email including more detailed information on the voting process.

Thank you.

Leslie W. Cothren
